About the course

Join our online course to learn about an eco-friendly and sustainable roofing method for the sandwich roof. We will explore the traditional method of roofing with Mangalore tiles, a material that has been used for over a century and has a rich history in India. Terracotta, the primary material used in Mangalore tiles, has been used in India since ancient times, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly option.

To create Mangalore tiles, clay is moulded in a mechanical press, dried in the sun, and then fired in a kiln. This method consumes only 30% of the energy compared to an RCC slab, making it eco-friendly.

We will explore the sandwich roof method to improve the thermal performance of a Mangalore tile roof. This adaptation involves placing a thin roof of lime and bamboo both under the Mangalore tile roof, creating a thermal barrier that enhances the comfort of the space inside. While the sandwich roof is not a traditional method, it is a sustainable and eco-friendly option that improves thermal performance.

Join us in this course to learn more about the sandwich roof and how it can be used to enhance the sustainability and thermal comfort of your building.
